Our last fast Sunday

THOUGHT:  "OUR JOURNEY ON THE PATH IS PERSONAL AND WELL LIT WITH
                         THE SAVIOR'S LOVE!"                Rosemary Wixom

Sat April 9 - we offered to drive the Griffins to the airport Marriott.  They were having an area council (all area 70's come to meet with the area presidency to discuss the material that the area presidency was given by the Twelve and first presidency in Salt Lake the week before Conference.  Apparently the stress was on teaching in the way of the Savior and there will be monthly meetings during the block to train teachers.  Sabbath Day observance was stressed again.  The Griffins are the media missionaries and were called to take pictures of all of the area 70's with the area presidency.  We just hung out.  We were invited by the brother who set up the rooms at the Marriott to eat after the area 70's had finished - we got the leftovers (it was a great meal even if it had already been picked over.)  We then drove to some ruins near Puebla call Cacaxtla.  There are extensive murals there depicting a light skinned army defeating a dark skinned army.  We returned home without incident and made it in time to see Napoleon Dynamite.  The Doctor who is replacing me is James Heder - his son starred in Napoleon Dynamite and some of the missionaries had never seen the movie.  It was fun.

A pic at the Marriott of the new area 70's
with the area Presidency.

A beautiful lily at Cacaxtla

There is the huge pyramid with
Greg and me standing in front!

Waving!!!

Pics of these Cacaxtla ruins

One of many pillars to hold up
some kind of roof.

Paintings on those slabs

Other ruins on a hill next to us

The Griffins went with us!

to the tree with the earthquake mark on it!

2 more little pyramids that have not been unearthed

I love this huge tree with a bent trunk
probably growing on some unearthed ruins.

Sun April 10 - The morning was spent doing reports as usual.  Peg got the courage to bear her testimony in Spanish and did a good job.  There is a young man staying here in our hotel from Monterrey - his company has business here in Mexico City.  He has talked to some of the other missionaries in the exercise room and went to church with us.  He really is quite interested and I think the full-time Elders came and gave him a discussion Sunday night.  We declared it "get rid of items in your freezer" meal day - The Andersons had some chicken and Peg had some meatballs over rice - we invited 3 other couples and had a great meal.

I'm so glad that testimony thing is over!!!
That was stressful.  As I was bearing my
testimony I looked out into the audience and
people were looking at me like I was
speaking Russian.  It made me laugh out loud!
