Monday, Apr. 4th - Wednesday Apr 6th

This week has been a groundhog experience from last week.  The first 3 days went very slow with not a lot going on or phone calls for Greg!  Things are noticeably slowing down around here.  I hope the Heders have lots to do when they arrive.  Monday we ran a few errands and we both exercised on the treadmill.  FHE was very interesting with the Longhursts doing it.  They are from the Colonies and they have a huge business there of growing pecans and shipping them all over Mexico and the US.  They showed slides of the pecan groves, the machinery that helps them do all kinds of things, the animals and bugs that live there.  Elder Longhurst bragged about how his groves are living areas.  He even makes his own mulch and fertilizer.  It was a very interesting FHE and we definitely learned a lot about pecans.
Tuesday, was the same activities as Monday during the day.  We had a very fun evening going and meeting the Titensors for dinner at an Argentinian restaurant called Quilmes or something like that.  We had a very nice visit and enjoyed out time with them.  They have become great friends.  They have one more year to serve so we will see them in Orem a year from this July!  We got home early so we bugged the Griffins to do a movie.  We watched the the documentary of Malala who is Iranian and got shot in the head and lived.  It was way to long and kind of boring after the first 10 minutes.
Wednesday, the government has put some new laws in to practice and we can't drive our car on Wednesdays due to the huge pollution problem here in the city.  Our license plate number ends in a 4 so that is our day to not drive.  I spent from 11 am to about 4:30 pm over at the offices with sister Griffin getting some of the photos off her iPhotos that I wanted to keep.  She is a real photographer and has some great pics.  I got a whole bunch and hopefully some day I will put the good ones on the blog.  That will have to be after I go home though.  We did take a break and the 4 of us went to the little tiny Italian place around the corner from the offices and had a pizza.  Then we had the Griffins over for dinner.  I put meatballs in the crockpot this morning so we had those with a salad.  I am trying hard to use up all my food I still have here.  I am not having much luck!

Out to dinner with the Titensors!
Dear friends!!!

Greg reading Preach My Gospel while exercising!

There is a body in the back of this truck!
I hope it is not a dead body!
I don't whether to honk or drive on by!
I guess I will just drive on by!!

Thursday, Apr. 7th

We had a long busy day today. We decided to get our blood drawn before we go home since it is free down here!  We went fasting to the blood draw and guess what we saw on the way out the door.  Yep, a brand new Dunkin Donuts place right next door.  We had to stop and pick up a couple.  We had a yummy breakfast for sure.   We offered to take the Hackings up to the MTC.  They have never been there.  We left around 11 am and drove up there.  It took us about an hour to make it.  We met up with Sister Packard and the Harstons.  We ate lunch in the cafeteria with these guys and took a little tour around the MTC.  It is such a beautiful oasis there.  The spirit is so strong and awesome.  I envy (kind of) the senior couples that live and work there.  They really do live in a heavenly state there!  They don't get to see as much of Mexico as we do or meet as many people so I think we have it a little better off.  After the MTC experience we drove up into the North mission to look at some cute dress-up dresses for little girls.  I got a couple of dresses, but I don't know how I am going to get them home.  They are very fluffy and sparkly!  We drove home along the "Celestial Kingdom Road"  that I like to call it.  You have to pay a toll to drive on it, but it is worth it!  No traffic.  We got home just in time to us to drop off the Hackings and pick up Sister Anderson.  She needed to go to Walmart to pick up some little gifts so we drove her up there.  We did a little shopping of produce and such.  We hurried home, ate a leftover dinner and went up to the Andersons to watch a movie.  We started a new little series called "Murder in Paradise"  They should be fun to watch along with the "Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries" that they have gotten us to start watching.  I got to work on the last afghan I am making here in Mexico.  This was a nice day!!
So a first last is (hopefully) a trip to the donut shop!  And going to the clinic for a blood draw since
the girl that tried and tried to draw my blood couldn't find a vein!  Thank heavens for the other girl that knew what she was doing!
I also thought this would be our last trip to the MTC, but I guess we will be taking the Heders up there the last week we are here!

Well, what are you suppose to do when a brand new donut
shop shows up next to the clinic!!

Beautiful Jacaranda trees at the MTC.

I love how these trees cover some of the streets here

Friday, Apr. 8th

I love busy days.  They move along much faster.  We were up and going to the Temple clinic.  I went to the Temple for maybe the last time here in Mexico.  I tried really hard to listen and enjoy my time there.  There were many distractions with ladies in wheelchairs, and other items!!!  It was still a good session but the longest one I have been in here - a good 2 hours.  The Celestial Room is so beautiful with the huge star chandelier and Axtec designs around.  Greg did the clinic thing and we met up afterwards and drove home.  We were kind of in a hurry because we were meeting the Zapatas for an early dinner.  It is Elder Zapatas birthday tomorrow and we took him out to Cheesecake Factory for dinner and to see the large Santa Fe mall.  We had a great time.  I hope we can always stay friends with these people.  While we were still at dinner the Griffins called and invited us to a movie in Interlomas.  We had a great dinner, walked around the mall for a minute then headed to drop the Zapatas off at the Auditorium to catch their bus and metro home.  The still live over by the temple so it takes them 2 hours at least to get home every day.  The traffic was horrible as usual in Friday nights.  We called the Griffins and told them to take Uber up to the theater and we would meet them there.  We didn't think we had time to get all the way back to our place to pick them up.  We made it up there about the same time so that turned out great.  We saw "Ice queen and the Huntsmen"  It was made by the same people that made Malicifent.  It was good.  I loved Malicifent better but it's always fun to be out to the movies!!!  The Griffins hadn't eaten so we walked down to Jonny Rockets and watched them eat a hamburger, fries and a shake!!  We did have a dreamsicle shake which was just OK too!!  It had rained a little and we were tired and happy to be back home after this long day!!!

Happy Birthday Elder Zapata!
Cheesecake Factory!!!!

Waiting to get into the movie - look at this guys bald spot?
