WE CAN PRESS FORWARD IN OUR DAILY LIVES WITH
HEAVENLY HELP." Elder Bednar
Saturday April 23
We started out Saturday running some errands - Peg made cinnamon rolls and regular rolls for our Sunday dinner. At 2 we went to the house of Hector and Anna Maria for a meal. I baptized her 44 years ago - he was baptized in a neighboring stake. They went to Benemerito (the church school) together, university together and were married in the temple. They had 3 children and he was in a bishopric when their oldest got cancer and died. She was 15 and it threw Ana Maria into a deep depression that lasted 5 years. Her father took care of her and he finally joined the church. She is recovered and they are doing well. We had dinner with their two remaining children and their 3 grandchildren. It was chicken in a red sauce with opals (prickly pear cactus cut into strips) and rice. It was very good -I am not a big fan of nopals but I really liked the way she prepared them. We then went to the Saturday evening adult session of conference and it was a wonderful session. The stake president who is a former mission president spoke of consecration - that is not something for the future but senior couples need to live it now by serving a mission.

Sunday April 24 CONGRATS! WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY ARCHIE STEVENS!
Stake conference was great. I was embarrassed by President Whitehead and his wife who both sang my praises from the pulpit. My main goal of this mission has always been to lighten the burden of the mission presidents and their wives by giving them support and resources. Maybe the Lord was letting me know that I had achieved that. We were on face time off and on all afternoon as Angie was in the hospital in an induced labor. She had a beautiful baby boy about 6 our time. He is handsome. She is well and he has no apparent health problems. What a blessing.
