THOUGHT: "NO ONE HAS EVER BECOME POOR BY GIVING!" Anne Frank
OK! This dang day started out pretty mellow! I got some stuff done this morning and Greg was able to get some errands done! I was even able to catch my breath! BUT then came this afternoon! At 2:30 we left here to go clear over on the other side of town to pick up Sis. Moss and Sis Mendez. Cute little tiny Sis. Mendez is the one that has a bad back and is in lots of pain. She is also the sister that is from Quetzeltanango Guatemala. Her mom disowned her when she came on her mission. Usually when a missionary is in this much pain and not functioning he/she is sent home for further tests, physical therapy or surgery or whatever. But since this poor little sister doesn't have any place to go we are trying to take care of her here in Mexico! So back to my sad story, We left here at 2:30, drove across town which took us one hour to pick up the sisters. We then drove in another direction across town to the hospital where we found a pain doctor to look at this sister. We waited in the waiting room for 45 min and then the doctor saw her. The doctor was very nice and very thorough! We left the hospital around 6 pm. We got lost a few times trying to get on the right road, but finally ended up at Costco where there is a big food court next to it. We fed these sisters hamburgers, french fries and soda! They loved it! Yay! Not Mexican food! We then jumped back in the car and drove them home, only getting on the wrong road once! We got them home around 9 pm and we got back across town and home by 10:00 pm! Seven and 1/2 hours of driving, sitting, driving! I might as well have driven back from Oaxaca! Oh my, the traffic is making me crazier than I can imagine!(I know that's hard to believe that I could be any crazier!)! Anyway I am home and very grateful that we were blessed with all of this hard driving! That's the real miracle - we are safe and healthy (except for a little diarrhea now and again!) So I will go take my blood pressure medication and all will be well by morning! Nos Vamos!
PS I am very grateful that all of you are healthy and well as far as I know!
Keep up the good work!!!
We see shrines like this for Guadalupe all over the country! Most of them have flowers or lights or tons of other kinds of decorations! |

Well I have embellished my flower garden today! Greg did his piddily things and I worked on my spanish and my craft . We went to Walmart around 2 pm and bought some cheap pots and a garden gnome! My flowers are so much happier now that they have some new dirt that actually holds some moisture! They look lovely out on my ledge! I like the simple days like this when I don't have to be out in the traffic! I do have some pics of driving around!
I have a funny story! On Sunday night Scot and Katie face timed us and told us a friend of their sister in law is coming to visit her parents here in Mexico! We put 2 and 2 together and figured out the girl coming is the daughter of the Rices. Last weekend I put a pic of the Rices face timing their daughter about a restaurant they were taking the girls to when they come. That was a fun connection to the Rices. Then on Monday afternoon, I was talking to my next-door neighbor Laurel Porter. In the coarse of the conversation she mentioned that her sister in law's parents were on a mission here in Mexico! After a few questions, I figured out this girl was ANOTHER daughter of the Rices. She is married to John's brother. Her name is Megan Porter and they live in Phoenix! How's that for connecting dots!
I love it when we do that! Two of the Rices 4 daughters are coming on Friday night to spend a few days here with their parents! Megan is not coming, but it was fun to make that connection!
Driving to a church - just looking down a typical street! This is a nice and clean neighborhood! |
Traffic control! They put these gates up at the end of the street and sometimes lock them so you can't go in that way or you have to go around to the other side! FRUSTRATING! |
At the end of the street! We are suppose to be going to a church down that street, but nope! We finally figured out it was clear down the other way! |

THOUGHT; "WHAT WE NEED IS MORE PEOPLE THAT SPECIALIZE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE!"
Another fun day in paradise! Greg had his monthly Area Presidency meeting. We had a zone conference we needed to be at - at 11:30. We had difficulty finding the church as usual. We asked 3 different people where the church was and got 3 different answers. This zone only has Elders in it so the meeting was stinky and hot! Sister keep the whole situation much more pleasant!!!! Then we got asked to check on a couple of missionaries that were in the ER. They had been acting really weird last night - like they were drunk or drugged. The ward mission leader brought them dinner and drinks. He drank out of a different drink than the Elders did. That would be awesome if the ward mission leader is poisoning the Elders! We decided to stop at a mall and eat a sandwich at Applebees. The traffic was so bad it took us over an hour to get home and we hung around here the rest of the night.
A little bit nicer part of town! |
House and yard decor! |
I love how people ride on things down here! There are about 5 people hanging off this tractor! Sorry you can't see them very well! |
Thursday, Mar 5th HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMMI AND DAVE!
Today another zone conference this morning. I wasn't feeling up to par so we were late getting there! It's not a good idea to get stuck out in horrible traffic when you have a little case of diarrhea! Don't ever do it!!!! We finally made it to the conference. We left there right after Greg was done with his schpeel to go meet with a hospital administrator. We have found a new (not in age just different) hospital that we are getting set up for the missionaries to go to! The hospital they have been using is not treating the missionaries very well so we are done with them!
The traffic was horrible again coming home so it took us over 1 1/2 hours to get home! I had my spanish class at 2 pm today. I had to tell about my whole family in spanish!
Tonight was a blast because President Hall and Sister Hall had called the other day and invited us to dinner at P F Changs. We also invited the Smiths and Pococks. We met at 6 pm and had the best visit ever!
The sign out in front of the hospital we are checking out! The hospital is old, but nicely kept. |
A nice part of town around the hospital! You could almost live here!!! |
A pineapple tree!! |
Traffic and the triangle building up there! |

Waiting for our friends at P F Changs Fun dinner with the Halls, Smiths, Pococks! They all know each other from Idaho Falls! We are really suffering here!! |
THOUGHT: "IF WE DID ALL THE THINGS WE ARE CAPABLE OF, WE WOULD LITERALLY ASTOUND OURSELVES!" Thomas Edison
We are capping our week off by going to the clinic today for our usual stint! It was quite busy, which is good for us, but not good for a bunch of sick missionaries! There seems to be lots of cold, stomach cramps and the usual diarrhea going on! Also, a few sore knees and feet! The work is moving forward with all of the hard work of these missionaries!!!

Here is that dumb aqueduct we always seem to be on the wrong side of! See the little arch ways? |
Well, here is one that is probably a walkway, but guess what? Our car barely fits through it! Whatever works down here!!! |
Sitting in traffic on the railroad tracks! |
Praying a train doesn't come around that corner!! |
People everywhere selling stuff while we are stuck in traffic! |
