HAPPY EASTER/CONFERENCE WEEKEND

Saturday, Apr. 4th - Easter Sunday, Apr 5th

THOUGHT:  "TO KNOW THE VOICE OF THE SHEPHERD IS A PRIVILEGE
AND A BLESSING.  SETTING ASIDE TIME TO LISTEN TO
                                   THE VOICE IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY."

Saturday was a day we could sleep in a little - those are rare days in the mission.  We watched conference on our laptops thanks to our Dish Sling that allows us to view US stations.  Between conference sessions we ran to Costco to buy fruit for the fruit salad Peg has to make for our combined dinner Sunday with the other 8 couples in our hotel.  I finally learned how to cut a mango so you don't get all messy - what a delicious fruit, too bad it has such a big stone.  After the afternoon session we ran down to a flower shop and bought small flower baskets for all of the couples.  They do have wonderful fruit and beautiful flowers here in Mexico.   I went to the area offices to view the priesthood session.  I especially liked Elder Christopherson stating that no one is predistined to receive less than all Heavenly Father has to offer.  Elder Renland (medical school classmate) saints are just sinners that keep on trying.  Pre Uchtdorf talking about the Potemkin village (had to look this one up on wikipedia).
Sunday we went to daylight savings time and lost an hour - we are now in central time, an hour ahead of Utah.  It was nice to be on the same time for awhile.  Next fall we will be 2 hours off for a little while.  We watched the morning session with the Andersons in their apartment since they have a big TV they could hook up to their computer.  Between sessions we walked over to the chapel and practiced with the stake choir that will be singing in Stake Conf in 3 weeks.  After the afternoon session we had a delicious dinner with all of the couples in the hotel except the Montoyas who have family in town (his brother Hugo Montoya was called yesterday to the first quorum of the seventy.)  We watched the Roma Downey "A.D" series and called it a day. Elder Holland gave a powerful testimony of the Atonement.  I especially enjoyed Elder Nielson's discussion of the prodigal son.

Remember the beautiful yard on the river
from yesterday!
This yard is across the river from the pretty one!

More of the junk yard!

I like the pots on the rickety fence!

There is a lot of cardboard and tin to make that wall!!

Pretty trumpet vines

Not sure what this means - a skeleton
in a canoe with a bunch of flowers!
Decor!!!

Getting creative with their walls on the river!

Here is the rest of the cardboard that
wasn't used on the other wall!!
The doll/toy boat!

Anyone want a doll?

The river is getting crowded now with all the boats coming

Greg trying his hand at driving the boat!
I think he likes driving his boat better!

See how the Marimba boat hooks up with the boats!

Another Mariachi band caught us!

As we were pulling back in the dock this guy
jumped on our boat selling silver jewelry

This is the front of our boat - Alicia!
All the boats have women names.

I tried to take a pic of the horrific traffic trying to get out of the city!
I bet it took these guys 4 hours to just get out of town!!
Feliz Pascua!  (happy Easter)
