Wednesday, then home alone!!!

Wednesday, Jan 28th -

THOUGHT:  "KEEP YOUR FACE ALWAYS TOWARDS THE SUNSHINE -
AND SHADOWS WILL ALWAYS FALL BEHIND YOU"

Today was groundhog day again!  We had another zone conference with the south mission.  I love the Valadez'.  They are awesome mission president and wife!  They don't speak English, but their spirit is tangible!  Greg got to give his shpeal, but that wasn't the extremely exciting part of today!  He was in the chapel next door to the older chapel that he attended as a missionary!  Someone had keys to the building, so we got to walk through the church!  Greg remembered everything about the church and some of the people that were in that ward!  Talk about a walk down memory lane! I also got a pic of the older church when there was nothing around it but fields!  I don't know how old the pic is, but now the building is surrounded by houses, freeway and busy roads!  The newer church was where the zone conference was held!  It wasn't there 42 years ago when Greg was there!  Good Times!!!
While we were at the conference, Greg got a call and was informed that he needed to take an Elder home to Salt Lake.  The missionary was struggling with some mental issues and needed a doctor to escort him home!  Greg spent the rest of the day getting things arranged and packed.  We won't be able to go to the zone conference tomorrow - the third one for the south mission.  He was also suppose to do a presentation for the Southeast mission for Pres. Stuttzenegger on Friday.  He had to cancel that as well!
Greg got the Toblers to ride with us to drive Greg to the airport!  We left at 7pm and got to the airport at 8:35!  The traffic was horrible!  Elder Tobler helped my get on the dang right roads to get back to the hotel!  We finally got back at 9:50!  Tired and now HOME ALONE!  I'm not sure if that is good or bad.  What's wrong with this pic that Greg gets to go home and I am in Mexico alone!
Tonight Greg flew to Vieramosa in southern Mexico.  He got to stay in a hotel with a king size bed!
In the morning he will take this Elder and fly to Salt Lake!  Who really knows what I will do!!
What happens in Mexico....  Stays in Mexico!

This pic was taken many many years ago - even before
Greg was there!  Now, where all of these people
are standing is a huge busy street!
There are buildings all around this church!

This is a beautiful carved  piano that Greg played 42 years ago!
I don't think it has been tuned since!!

Pulpit..  no microphone!

Pic from the front of the chapel towards the back!
Look at the beautiful wood benches and doors!

Pics with the Valadez and an Elder!

I love these beautiful wood carved doors!

Pic with Pres. & Sis. Valdez - South mission
in front of the church!

Front door!

Look at that smile!

Thursday, Jan 29th -

Well, here I am home alone for today and tomorrow!  I tried to sleep in a little, but Greg had to call me at 7:45!  He refuses to let me sleep in!  Tomorrow, I am not answering the phone!  I studied my Spanish for my lesson that was at noon today!  I finally put my Christmas tree away!😬
The Andersons did not want me to be alone so they asked me if I could take them to the grocery store!  I was happy to do that!  The weirdest thing happened on the way to the store!  The traffic was going very slow - even the busses.  I could see something all over the road, but couldn't tell what it was until I got up to it!   OH MY GOSH!  ONLY IN MEXICO!   Probably 6-8 cow carcasses had fallen out of the back of a truck and there were bloody bones of all shapes and sizes - leg bones, hip bones, ribs, etc, etc, ALL over the road! We were driving over all these bones cause the road was completely covered! It smelled so gross and looked awful!    Nothing but fun here!!
The Andersons had me over to watch a Hallmark Valentines movie.  I love Hallmark movies cause they always have a happy ending!   It was so fun to face time with all of my kids tonight!  Greg isn't appreciating the fact that he has been able to spend this evening with them all and I am sitting down here!  Next time I am taking the missionary home!
Hasta la vista

OK, this is a 3 ft block of frozen bloody bones!
These were on the other side of the road from where the
bones were splattered all over the road for at least a block!

We went into the Superama grocery store and look at what
met us!  A huge pig leg, thigh, hip!
Elder Anderson is holding the foot (hoof)

When we came out of the grocery store, guys were shoveling up
the bloody bones and putting them in boxes.
The guy in the blue behind the tree is carrying a big
box back to the truck!!
Where do you think they are taking those bones??

There is a box of bones!

Here is a pile of bones waiting to be put in a box!
Just laying all over the road!!!

PS Greg thought he was the only one to have fun - just look at the fun I had alone in Mexico!!

Friday, Jan 30th

THOUGHT:  "HEALTH IS THE GREATEST GIFT....
                        CONTENTMENT THE GREATEST WEALTH....
                        FAITHFULNESS THE BEST RELATIONSHIP!"
                                                                                           Buddha

Today was very uneventful!  No bloody bones on the road or anything!   Ho Hum!
I cleaned up our place, did the ironing, the dishes, moved some of the extra stuff that was here up to the place where the Hackings will live.  I was suppose to pick up Greg from the airport at 3:30 today but there were a few problems.  First it was pay day and on pay day everyone is out going somewhere to spend their money.  Traffic is horrendous!  Also it is a Friday afternoon and a holiday weekend!  They have more holidays here than I can count!  So the airport trip would have taken me about 4 hours!  I let Greg know as soon as he landed to get a taxi and find his way home!  He ended up hitching a ride with Pres. Anaya who was at the airport to pick up a couple coming from Utah to work in the East Mission office.  Greg got to go to the Temple to see a couple of missionaries he told to meet him there.  He finally got home at 8pm.  I had already gone to dinner with the Andersons, Rices, and Sandbergs and was back home before he got home!  That's what he gets for leaving me home alone in Mexico!!!
We went over to the Andersons and watched a movie- The Legend of Zorro! then to bed!!
I guess there was a very eventful thing happen here yesterday!  There was a big explosion at a maternity hospital here somewhere on the west side of the city (where we live).  We didn't hear anything but a sister from our stake was in that hospital and her new baby died of severe burns.  I think 9 people died including babies!  I don't turn on the TV down here, but everyone in Utah has seen it reported on the national news!  Sad deal!
