THOUGHT: "SUCCESS IS GETTING WHAT YOU WANT....
HAPPINESS IS WANTING WHAT YOU GET!"
Today has been a nice low key day! Greg went to get his old foggy card from the Mexican government! Now he can ride the metro free and get into museums for free and free other stuff! I am not old enough to get a card! Ha! It's kinda funny that he still has to pay for me everywhere we go! I stayed home and worked on the blog and finally got caught up! After he came "hobbling" in we left to go see a missionary who thinks he is dying! He is in the Northeast mission so it took us about 30 min to drive there! I am so happy😃 cause the traffic wasn't bad for the first time in 3 weeks! That is until we started to come back home! Even still we made it under a million hours in the car today! We had to stop at Costco to buy a cheesecake for the treats for FHE tonight! We are on treats and I couldn't think of anything to make even though I have collected 2 million recipes since I have been here!
The cheesecake had raspberries and whip cream on top so I didn't have to make a sauce! Everybody loved it so all is well! The FHE lesson was about an ancestor of the Montoyas that was famous here in Mexico - Rafael Monroy! Pres. Faust talked about him in a conference talk many years ago!
Good times!! Hope all is well with you today!
Greg - The story of Rafael Monroy is told in a film about the members of the church in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. I don't know if they still show it but it was about how the Lord sent angels to protect the Mormon colonies from Pancho Villa (my grandmother and grandfather were there and told me this story many times) and about 2 martyrs in a small town called San Marcos - Rafael Monroy was one of those martyrs. He joined the church in 1912 and when President Rey L Pratt was forced to leave in 2013 (he was Grandpa Stevens' mission president in 1920) Brother Monroy was very worried about his little branch in San Marcos being left without leadership. President Pratt at that time laid his hands on Bro Monroy's head and set him apart as the branch president. In 1915 the Zapatistas came into San Marcos and were told that Bro Monroy was part of a strange religion. They lined him up in front of a tree (after torturing him and his first counselor by nearly hanging them) and told him to denounce the church or be shot. He asked if he could offer a prayer and blessed his family, asked Heavenly Father to forgive these men and then was shot. His great grandson is here in the mission with us.

A Mission President gave us a fruit basket for a thank you gift! This fruit was in it! It tasted pretty good but I couldn't eat it because of the way it looks! Don't know the name of the fruit! |
I was baking some rolls and the recipe calls for 2 large eggs! This is what I have left in the egg carton! It will have to do! |
I love pics like this! Just a guy with his whatever harvest, his big horse and baby horse going down the street! Sorry I couldn't get rid of the sun spot! I think it was a reflection off the windshield! |
