THOUGHT: "THAT WHICH IS OF GOD IS LIGHT.... AND HE THAT RECEIVETH LIGHT
AND CONTINUETH IN GOD, RECEIVETH MORE LIGHT.....
AND THAT LIGHT GROWETH BRIGHTER AND BRIGHTER UNTIL THE
PERFECT DAY!" D & C 50:24
We started out the day by walking down to the IHOP, about 1/2 mile from our hotel. Breakfast was great and we found a Morton's Steakhouse hidden back behind it - one of these days...... We then went to an Aeromexico office - we have vouchers for a free round trip somewhere in Mexico due to being bumped from a flight to Tijuana. It only cost me $60 each ("taxes") for $350 tickets to Cabo San Lucas - we got permission to fly there for 4 days for a "break" which also coincides with our friends, the Shamys time at their time share. We hit Costco and made it home in time for most of the brethren to go to the priesthood session. I sacrificed myself to take some of the sisters to the evening adult session since none of them felt confident to navigate to the stake center which is 30 minutes away in a little pueblito. We sang with the stake choir - most of whom had their buckets with them to carry their tunes.
Sun Nov 22 -
This is the one year anniversary of arriving in Mexico. Felicidades! We had a wonderful stake conference with an area authority, Elder Reyes who was wonderful. The theme is the same as all year - self-sufficiency for the saints in Mexico - pay their own way in fast offerings, sending out as many missionaries as they receive, providing enough names to keep their temples busy and everyone learning to be self-sufficiency in their temporal affairs. Just this year Mexico has improved from only providing 38% of their fast offering funds to now over 70%. They hope by next year to 100% on fast offerings. Our closing song was "Consider the Lillies of the field" which we nailed. We fed the Griffens and the Rices and had a quiet evening.
