Happy Birthday Peg

Saturday Sep 26, 2015

THOUGHT:  "THE GREATEST CHALLENGE IN LIFE IS DISCOVERING WHO YOU ARE...
THE SECOND GREATEST IS BEING HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU FIND!"
I started the day out hitting the treadmills - the one I was on was not very steady and seems to be falling apart.  I thought I had an appointment with a sick Sister missionary at the West mission offices across the street - when I got there and she called and said she was on the way it turned out it was a Guadalajara number - I told the sister I wasn't going to be able to make it to Guadalajara (6 hour drive) and she said she actually was feeling better.  I went with Elder Griffin to the store to buy for our birthday dinner on Sunday for our wives (his wife has the same birthday as Peg.)  We got home just in time to  set up their projector and hook up a laptop and watch some BYU football -I had a hard time paying attention.  After that fiasco we went with the Griffins to Santa Fe (really rich part of town with a huge mall) where we took our wives to dinner.  We found an underground mall where there were huge funnels allow light from above and rain with trees planted inside.  It was an interesting mall.  We then went to the main Santa Fe mall where we found the Cheesecake Factory. We had a great meal and made it home in time for our wives to catch the women's session.  I entertained myself watching the Utes roll over the Oregon ducks.

The egg shaped building!
It is huge and weird looking!

We are in an underground mall with 3 of these
funnels that open up to the outside
for the light.  This light lights
up the whole mall!

We are with the Griffins.  It's her birthday tomorrow as well!
We are standing at the top of the funnel now where
we are at ground level looking up at the buildings around the mall.

We went to Cheesecake Factory for our birthday dinner.

Happy Birthday to us!

THOUGHT:  "RANDOM FACT:  IF YOU SMILE EVEN IF YOU'RE IN A BAD MOOD, IT WILL
IMMEDIATELY IMPROVE YOUR MOOD BECAUSE THE SIMPLE ACTION OF
THINKING ABOUT SMILING AND USING THE MUSCLES IS ENOUGH TO
TRIGGER HAPPY CHEMICALS IN THE BRAIN"

Happy Birthday Peg.  I bought her a gift in the Bogotá airport.  Colombia is famous for emeralds and I was able to buy a pair of emerald earrings for 2.4 million pesos - Colombian pesos not worth much. I had told her how much I had spent and of course all the senior missionaries were curious about her 2.4 million peso gift.  After church I fixed her her favorite breakfast burrito for breakfast and it took me almost 3 hours to do my report to Elder Schwitzer regarding missionary health in Mexico.  On Sundays I take the time to review all my emails and texts to make sure there aren't any missionaries I haven't done due diligence to make sure they are well.  We had a wonderful birthday dinner for Peg and Sister Griffin as well as one of the office missionaries in our ward who had the same birthday.  I went to choir practice after and Peg talked to kids.  We tried to go up on the roof to see the "blood" moon but there was too much cloud cover.

Today has been a very, very nice day!  I have heard from so many family and friends.  I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life.  I love my new 2 million peso emerald earrings.
Sister Rice put on the best Sunday, birthday dinner ever!  She is a great friend! We even had balloons and birthday cake!  Mexico can't slow us down on celebrations!  I sure do love my family and friends.  Thank you for being in my life!

The receipt for my 2.4 million
birthday present from Columbia!

Very pretty!  Thank you Greg!

My dozen red birthday roses!

The Rices invited us up for dinner - with balloons and

It is this Elders birthday tomorrow so he
got in on the celebration too!
