Temple dedication

Sat Sept 12

THOUGHT:  "LIFE IS LIKE RIDING A BICYCLE.  TO KEEP YOUR BALANCE
                            YOU MUST KEEP MOVING!"
                                                           Albert Einstein
My day was quite different that Peg's.  I took a missionary home for health reasons to Las Vegas so my day started early -9 am at the airport and a 4 hour flight to Las Vegas.  I had 2 hours turn around (only had time for lunch at Carl's Jr) and got home at 9 pm.  I took a taxi home from the airport but Peg got home first - She got to go to the Cultural event taking place for the dedication of the Mexico City temple and out to dinner with President Whitehead and his wife.  She also got to sit about 10 seats away from Elder Eyring and Elder Holland and the Mexico area presidency.
The cultural program was very nice.  It was the story about how the gospel came to Mexico.  We saw dances from the different areas from around the country.  It was very nice to see President Erying and Elder Holland.  It was also nice to see Cynthia Collier from Salt Lake who helped write and direct this program.  She is a very awesome lady!  Everyone was thrilled to see this cultural event.
I was able to go with The Whiteheads, Toblers and Rices.  Then once there I sat with the Griffins.  Everyone is so nice to take care of me while Greg is away!

THOUGHT:  "NOT SURE ABOUT THE LORD'S PLAN FOR YOU?  BE PATIENT
TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, AND A TIME TO EVERY
                        PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN."  ECC. 3:1-8

We had tickets to the afternoon session of the temple dedication.  We left at 12:30 and got to the temple grounds a little after 1.  We waited in a line that was already forming until 2:15 when our line started moving.  We stood in line with the 2nd counselor in a stake presidency in Puebla with their 2 children.  By about 2:35 we were seated in an ordinance room just a veil away from the celestial room.  The big screen was playing TB Choir music with interior and exterior views of some temples that recently had been dedicated.  The speakers other than Elder Eyring and Elder Holland were in spanish - the two apostles had translation.  Elder Holland spoke of a time when he was in London as an area president and the London temple was closed for remodeling.  His son got his mission call and was to go through the temple.  It was the only time he didn't go through the temple with one of his children for the first time.  His wife took their son to St. George.  The day and time of the temple ordinance Elder Holland made sure he was at his home and spent the time contemplating the blessings of the temple.  He said he got more out of that than if he actually had been with his son.  Elder Eyring also spoke of the blessings of the temple in our lives.   It was very spiritual and it felt good to be inside the temple.  We got home in time to talk to a couple of our kids and have a quiet Sunday evening.  The Griffen's were kind enough to invite us to dinner since life has been hectic for us.  (a week in the Saltillo mission, leaving for 4 days in the Xalapa mission.  Next week it is lighter but we need to drive back to Xalapa for a day and spend a day in Chalco.  The following week is in Ciudad Juarez and the Mexican colonies followed by more that a week in Guadalajara (two missions.)  I am exhausted just thinking about it but they all speak English so Peg should be happy.

At the 3rd session of the Temple rededication
We were in an ordinance room

It was a beautiful day with people milling about all afternoon!
It was a nice day!
