Elder Christofferson

Saturday Aug 29

THOUGHT:  "CHRIST IS THE ANCHOR THAT HOLDS US AND PROTECTS US
AND OUR FAMILIES THROUGH THE STORMS OF LIFE"
                                                                                                                      Pres. Boyd K. Packer

Elder Christofferson has been touring missions in Mexico and we are invited to a special meeting with him in the Mexico City West mission at Camarones stake center where I labored as a missionary.  We had to leave early and 3 cars were supposed to follow Peg - like that is going to happen.  One car actually did follow us the whole way even though we missed a turn off and made a left hand turn right in front of 5 lanes of oncoming traffic.  We arrived and were able to have our picture taken with Elder Christofferson and his wife, President DeHoyos and his wife and another area 70 - Elder Torres.  The meeting was great and we really felt the spirit.  Afterwards I had to see a couple of missionaries, including one about 20 minutes away.  We ate at Applebee's for lunch and had to go shopping (hosting 2 couples for Sunday dinner.)  We made it back to inhale dinner and watch a movie with the Andersons.

Elder & Sister Christofferson sitting next to
President Whitehead.  He is our mission president
I wish I had taken a pic of all of us singing the closing song
"Called to Serve."
President Whitehead couldn't sing, talk or anything else
cause he was so overcome with emotion from seeing all of his
missionaries together.  It was a very sweet moment!!
It's like a mom having all of her family together at home!

THOUGHT:  "A GOOD CHARACTER IS SOMETHING YOU MUST MAKE FOR
YOURSELF.  IT IS THE REWARD THAT COMES FROM LIVING
GOOD PRINCIPLES AND MANIFESTING A VIRTUOUS AND
                         HONORABLE LIFE."                            Elder Perry

We had stake conference (a special one - not scheduled, with President DeHoyos and his wife and the President of the Mexico City Temple, President Gonzalez.  We sang in the stake choir (small and about 50% were senior missionaries)  After practicing for weeks - overkill - we arrived and didn't have time to run through the numbers.  There were about 5 tone deaf members of the choir and we had to sing loud to drown them out.  We heard messages on how important temple attendance is and are really anxious to attend the Mexico City temple.  I did my report to Elder Schwitzer which usually takes 2 hours and we hosted two senior couples.  It is a little difficult to host these dinners - we really have dishes for 4 with bits and pieces of another 4 - hodgepodge of dishes and utensils.  We heard from kids and talked to my mother - a peaceful and nice Sabbath except for the 20 plus phone calls from sick missionaries and mission presidents.

The only pic I took today at our Stake Conference
is of these flower arrangements
Aren't they beautiful?
