San Miguel de Allende

Sat March 5 -

Happy birthday Dave and Tammi.  We had breakfast in our hotel (American breakfast they called it) with juice, fruit and scrambled eggs with ham or Chorizo.  Of course I went for the Chorizo.  We walked back down town but chose a little different route.  As we rounded one of the catholic churches (almost on every corner) there was a tourist bus stop.  We bought tickets so we could spend a little while seeing areas where we couldn't just walk.  We rode past the Art college for which San Miguel is famous and stopped for a break above a real pretty park where we watched a couple about to get married have some of their wedding photos.  A little different than the wedding we saw yesterday in the Zocol where the wedding party was accompanied by a band and everyone had a little cup tied around their neck and people with Taquila would fill their cups overtime they held it out.  The bus then took us back through town and up on the hill that overlooks the town.  We had another stop and I bought a bag of Chapulinas (fried crickets) that they eat - we will take them home and see how brave you are.  There was a beautiful view of the city.  The tour ended back down town and we chose a restaurant next to the one we liked yesterday.  Food not quite as good but passable.  We wandered around and did some more shopping eventually back at our Hotel about 4 pm and caught a taxi back to the bus depot.  Uneventful bus trip back home but it was not a double decker.  We got back home about 9 pm and took a taxi home.  Then since it was Saturday night - we had to do laundry which takes about 2 hours and got to bed after midnight.

Sunday Mar 6

Fast Sunday - I figured we only have 2 left so I bore my testimony about finding another person I baptized and how the Lord directs our paths - this man was only 14 when I baptized him and has remained active - has been top the temple.  He had been seriously thinking about calling Salt Lake to try to find the missionaries who baptized him.  He appreciated our visit.  We had dinner together with all of the missionaries - really good.  We spent the evening cleaning the pictures that are crowding Peg's computer and putting them on a hard drive.  Tomorrow we get ready and go to Chihuahua for a second time around (first time around we didn't know what we were doing as it was only the second trip we made.)
