SIMPLY DO WHAT YOU CAN DO, IN THE BEST WAY YOU KNOW HOW,
AND THE LORD WILL ACCEPT YOUR EFFORT." Gordon B. Hinckley

Friday I started coughing and felt very feverish. Saturday morning a special guide was going to give us a tour of the anthropology museum so I loaded up with Advil and went. It lasted 3 1/2 hours so I was ready to go home. Learned some fascinating things. As our guide told us you won't find anything that will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the ancient Mexicans were Lehi's children but after 50 coincidences your faith becomes powered. We read Alma 12:1 where it talks of Alma unfolding the scriptures to Zeezrom as we looked at folded ancient codexes. There was a pictogram around a figure that has been translated as "and it came to pass." The Olmec civilization is the one correlated with the Jaredites. Their large head sculptures look either negroid or asian. He explained that the Jaredites probably traveled north east to near siberia in Russia before they built their boats. The currents from Russia to Mexico are the strongest and most likely to have driven their boats. He suggested that they may have gathered other people besides the friends from Babel and they may have very well been of other nationalities. The Sandbergs made us stacked enchiladas (Colonia Juarez style) like my grandma used to make us - that really hit the spot.

Olmec (Jaredite) statue that looks distinctly oriental - The most probable route of the Jaredites was through asia where they may have picked up additional people to their group. |

Looks like an elephant to me |

This Olmec statue has very definite negroid features. There very well could have been families of the negroid race that traveled with them. |

In Alma 12:1 it talks about unfolding the scriptures - these are ancient Mayan Codexes that have to be unfolded to read |

The star of David on this figure was also a sign of Quetzacoatl, the white bearded God of the indigenous people of Mexico |

Stacked enchaladas - Mexican colony style. My grandmother and mother used to make these for me - Sister Sandberg who lived in the colonies made them for us - delicious. Love the egg on top. |
Sunday Feb 21 -
Spent the morning doing my report. We went to sacrament meeting but came home and I slept for 2 hours - not something I normally do. We had invited a sister and her husband to dinner that I had baptized with Elder Longhurst. She didn't know he was here so it was a great surprise for her. We ate and visited for about 2 hours. When she left I got a big hug and she thanked me with tears in her eyes for introducing her to the gospel. That made my day.
