Hermosillo to Guadalajara transition

We got up early - had a zone conference at 9 and then President Robinson took us to the airport.  Another 3 1/2 hour flight back to Mexico City and since Hermosillo is on Mountain time and Mexico City on Central time it was after 6 when we got to Mexico City.  December 12 is Guadalape day - honoring the strangely brown depiction of the Virgen Maria with a different name but supposedly is really her.  The deceit was so that the early Aztecs or more properly Mexica people would honor the Catholic church on a spot  north of Tenochtilan where they already worshiped a brown skinned diety. It worked and Guadalupe worship is a firm tradition in Mexico.  However on one hand it is not so bad since it really helps maintain a devotion to god that has been lost in Europe and the US.  We were expecting really bad traffic but we made it home in amazing time - just in time to do our laundry and watch the last half of the Martian with our friends.

This is the temple in Hermosillo - we have now visited 12 of the 13 temples in Mexico - we just need to visit Villahermosa,

It was the dedication of the Tijuana temple today.  We had to drive 30 minutes to our stake center to watch the proceedings.  Elder Uchdorf tried his best to give some of his talk in Spanish - he actually has a decent accent.  Not even German Spanish.  The temple is so beautiful and the architecture is after the old spanish mission architecture. - I spent the afternoon writing my report to Salt Lake and we had Chicken pot pie with the Griffins.  We were able to talk to many of our kids and had to go to bed early because our trip to Guadalajara started at 4:20 am with a taxi ride to the airport early in the morning.
