THOUGHT: "WELL DONE IS BETTER THAN WELL SAID!" Benjamin Franklin
Today has been another one of those mellow spring days! Greg has kept busy working on missionary stuff and I have kept busy working on my craft! We actually walked up to our office by the church!
It felt good to get a workout walking up that hill!
We had FHE tonight where we learned about chiasmus in the B of M.
Sad, but not much else to write about today! It is Holy Week this week down here and everyone
is on vacation! It will be a mellow week. We do have a couple of meetings on Wednesday and we are planning on going sightseeing with the group on Thursday or Friday!
Nos Vamos!
Tuesday, Mar 31st
THOUGHT: "THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STUMBLING BLOCKS AND
STEPPING STONES IS THE WAY YOU USE THEM!" Unknown
I get mad at myself for not being with it enough to take all the pics I need to!
We got up and left early to go down south to the Poly Clinica to visit an Elder that had his
appendix out last night! The parking lot there is really worth taking a pic of - for sure!!
We were the last car to fit just barely inside the lot! We were blocking all of the other cars from moving! The parking guy asked us how long we would be inside the hospital! We didn't leave a key or anything! I guess people just have to wait until the others move before they can get out! There is room for approximately 12 cars if you really SQUEEZE!!! I don't like parking there! Usually we have to go across the street and up the next street and park way up there! All of that and we walked in to the Elders stinky room and he was up walking around, looking and feeling good! We were there about 3 min and back to our car. Someone in a porche had already parked behind us on the sidewalk!
The parking guy had to go find him and have him move it! What a hassle! CARS, TRAFFIC, PARKING, ROADS, STOP LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS!!!!!! It is all a huge problem.
Greg was reading on the CNN website (not because he does that usually, but Sis. Anderson told him about the article) It talked about the 10 worst cities in the world for regular traffic and rush hour traffic. Istanbul is on the top of both lists. Mexico City is #2 for worse all around traffic and #4 for worst rush hour traffic. I can't possibly imagine it could be worse anywhere else! I am never going to Istanbul!!!😜
We left the Poly Clinica and went to a little sightseeing place - some kind of mercado. Being Tuesday there was not much open and nothing going on in the park/plaza in the middle of the mercado! The place is hopping on the weekends!! It was a pretty part of town and quite peaceful so it was nice to enjoy a walk around the place anyway!!
We also found our way a few blocks away to see the Diego Rivera museum. Diego Rivera is a very famous artist here in Mexico. Actually it was his studio where he lived and painted. It did not have any of his famous paintings there, but nice to see where he became so famous.
Greg got a call which reminded him he was suppose to be working at the temple clinic today. Now we were late and all the way across town! We found an awesome freeway to drive on and made it to the temple is good time! There were some sick missionaries waiting for the doctor. One Elder was packing for his transfer and passed out and fell on his head and was out for 3-4 min. He doesn't remember anything from today. He has one large headache, but not much other damage! I hope he is OK after some rest! He came to transfers today and hopefully the Mission Pres. will take him home which is 40 min away from the temple!
There are always a few missionaries with stomach pains, nausea, headaches, back pain, ear wax, knee pain, a few dog bites, and so on! Never a dull moment!
We got to go home mid afternoon and because it is Samana Santa (Holy Week) there is not a lot of traffic YAY! We made it home in good time! We picked up the Andersons and went to Olive Garden for dinner. It tasted good - like in the states, but the worst thing--- no breadsticks! Why else do you really go to Olive Garden? Like the typical Mexican - they had some big story about how the breadsticks didn't make it across the border!!! GEEEEZZZZ!
Busy day = good day!
This is the nice little neighborhood we were in looking for the mercado I like the cobblestone roads and all the greenery!
We were parked by this nice, big, orange house! I liked it!
Across the street the other way! These are nice homes in here
The little old maid going into this big wooden door! There is probably a huge house behind that wall!
Two girls came walking out of this fence so I had to go see where they came from. See clear back there are a bunch of houses! Probably at least 60 people live back there!
The park inside the mercado area! Very quaint area!
This is how I spend most of my time here in Mexico! Yes - with Greg on the phone!
Another one! This is why I took so many pics of the neighborhood because I was standing in this spot for 25 min while he talked to an Elder!
A jacaranda tree at the Diego Rivera museum I have to take pics of these trees because they are so pretty and the blooms are on their way out now!
The top floor of the museum. Inside that door is Diego's little bedroom.
A pic looking up to the second floor. Those figures up there in the window are paper mache weird looking bodies!
All the stair cases are cement! Weird!
Another little house to the museum
This is only a glimpse of what a transfer day looks like! It's hard to see all the missionaries and their luggage everywhere! Also, they are saying goodbye to the missionaries that are going home!!!
I love taking pics of these carts that people push around to clean up the area! I love their brooms the most! They actually work too!!
